Falling arches, blurring vision, & stray chin hairs......

OK ..... so how did I go from perfect vision to my arm isn't long enough to hold a needle and thread far away enough to see to thread it?!? HMMMMMM?!?!?! Well, to be honest, it didn't happen over night .... but over the course of the past few years. At first it was kind of fun buying jazzy, snazzy "cheater" glasses like these.....

.....but then I started to need glasses more and more ..... I had to make sure I kept a pair in my purse ..... at first for reading menus in restaurants .... and now I find I need to use them at work ..... I NEVER had to do that before!!!.... I have to keep a pair by my sewing machine .... I have to keep a pair on my desk...... and I have to keep a pair downstairs in the kitchen to read those teeny, tiny labels on cans, etc ..... and to read through examples in my kid's algebra book ... and to read recipes ..... SHEESH !!! ...... and today I discovered yet another room in the house where I should keep a pair of glasses ...... that being the bathroom ..... seems I now can no longer spot a big ol' black hair hanging out of my chin .....not to mention my unibrow growing in ...... nope..... looked in the mirror while combing my hair and putting on mascara (and now I'm amazed that I can do that without glasses on .... oh wait, maybe I go out in public everyday with black blobs that I think are my long luxurious eyelashes like they talk about on the commercials.....) .... anyhow, today I left the house thinking " hair combed, make up on .... I look good! .... then when I got out in the car , I put my glasses on to read through my list of stuff to take to the high school for the basket auction today, I happened to also look in the mirror ....... and then I looked closer ...... WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?!?!? .... a GIANT BLACK HAIR STICKING OUT OF MY CHIN !!!!! GASP !!!! I flew back in the house , running upstairs to get tweezers, or hedge clippers while yelling at the kids "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THERE WAS A BIG OL' BLACK HAIR HANGING OUT OF MY CHIN?!?!? ARGGGGGG!!!!! ......

........so, anyhow, I bought myself a dazzling pair of bathroom glasses ....red with fake diamonds on the sides and everything! I tried to get Daisy to model them.....

......but she was busy sticking her tongue out at my "kitchen" glasses .....

......so I got these guys to model them ....

.

Let's see now .... we've covered blurring vision and stray chin hairs ...(UGH! what's next ? bunions and hemrrhoids? ..... NO!!!!!) .... falling arches .... that's what! For about the past week my right foot has been HURTING when I'm not wearing my sneakers/running/walking shoes (which I wear everyday for work)....when I come home I put on my sloppy, sloshy slippers .... and then my heel and the arch of my foot HURTS ..... why? hmmmmm ..... no arch support like in my sneakers! (in other words .... MY DAWGS ARE BARKIN'!) So, when I was at Walmart I decided to look for shoes of some sort that I could use as slippers around the house with some decent arch/heel support ..... and lookie what I found!

Pretty jazzy, huh? ..... and my Valentine socks add that little extra pizazz don't ya think?

.....here's another look ..... cute plaid "earth shoes" (I guess) with .......(sigh of relief) ... ARCH SUPPORT !!!!

.........AHHHHHHH.......that's the stuff ...... my tootsies are so happy that we're dancing here at MBIAJ! (now, turn up the volume .... cause we're dancin' to Frank and Dean .....)

.....OK ..... me and my HAPPY FEET are gonna go get our jammies on and dance off to bed ...... (and dream about aging gracefully!)

Toodles,
Mary Anne (aka Mare)

See what I mean? Agfing ????????

Yes, agfing is a humbling thing, but it looks like you'll handle it just fine with that sense of humor you've got. I'll be fifty this year and I want some of those shoes...and socks. You can keep the stray hairs, though...I've got plenty. Sounds like we're the same agf.

You are toooo funny! Love the shoes! I was gifted a pair of Uggs for Christmas, and they have only left my feet to sleep. Seriously! My husband wanted to go out to dinner, and I opted for the diner so that I could wear my uggs. The chin hairs? 8x mirror...very scary, but I feel satisfied that I've gotten the majority of them. Aging sucks. Susan

Wait until those dark hairs turn grey! Yes, grey! I have to turn my table top ott light on just to see them!

ROFL...I love the new "agfing" word. It looks like a cuss word for aging. I can't stop laughing!!

I love the plaid shoes. I'm sure you will look adorable when the UPS person or the mail person comes to the door with your plaid shoes and darling glasses.

ROFL.....what a great post. I wear contacts and when I sew I have to wear reading glasses and my contacts..how scary is that :-)!
And the chin hair thing, that happens to me. John will say do you know you have a long hair popping out of your chin? Oh yeah, I knew....it's a new style.
Cheeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzz :-)! PS - cute shoes and love the dancing!

I could have written this post, but without those stinkin' adorable shoes on (I WANT SOME). I kid not, I have about 20 pairs of cheaters all over the house - and can never find a pair when I need one. Every time I go to Target I check the $1 bins... sometimes they have cheaters and I buy every one in my "size". They are not the best quality... but they're A DOLLAR!!!

Those rogue hairs NEVER appear while in the comfort of my home. ALWAYS when I'm out and about. I'm thinking it's time to put a pair of tweezers in my cheater's case.

Glad you posted this... it's so comforting to know that I AM NOT ALONE!

LOL...no make that ROFLMAO!! Oh dear friends, I have btdt about all the signs of aging. I say this from the vantage point of 63. And I've lived to mostly get over it. Mostly.

When I was about 45, I was working one evening, and tried to read a map in the car. It was a total blur. I took a contact lens out thinking it was dirty...still no ability to read. I thought I had a brain tumor!! (That used to be my default panic.) I found the event I was supposed to attend but it took time till I learned the issue was ...reading glasses.

I think I will do a blog posting on this sometime. There is a continuation to the story.

I completely love those plaid slipper-shoes, and I think I may have to go to my nearest WalMart and see if they have some! They look so cute and comfy!!
