MBIAJ Crocheting Dept re - activated ....

Well good morning Blogland Neighborhood. Hope everyone had a nice Easter. We here at MBIAJ Headquarters are trying to catch up on everything from paperwork (grrrrrrrr) to laundry (what else is new?) following the holiday weekend. Usually it's way after 11 PM and the kitchen still isn't cleaned up from dinner .... so unfortunately, by then, even though they had all kinds of plans to work on projects, the Sewing Dept is just too darned pooped to wrap their brain around hauling their carcas upstairs and plugging in the sewing machine. BUT , Headquarters has been keeping some pretty yarn DOWNSTAIRS near the boob tube and when collapsing in front of the late news to catch the weather report .....

.....a little bit of crocheting has been happening ! It seems to be pretty relaxing and a nice stress reliever. Working with yarn isn't altogether new for MBIAJ Headquarters ..... there's a spotty history of knitting and crocheting projects .... we recall a knitted wrap sweater/coat thing made back in junior high that resembled a bath robe..... also a crocheted "peasant" belt thing with different colored ribbons woven through it (also in our junior high hippie phase) .... and we seem to recall a stack of purple crocheted granny squares that were never actually put together into that purple afghan for our purple junior high bedroom ..... then there was the knitted halter top made in home ec .....but the crowning accomplishment was the knitted sweater/ Christmas present laboriously made while studying for finals junior year of college for then boyfriend (now husband) ..... seems I was so intent on my studying that sleeve length was not being paid attention to .... well, boyfriend (now husband) tried on that sweater after opening it on Christmas and proceeded to do his immitation of a seal ..... which was appropriate since the sleeves were at least 10 inches TOO LONG !!!

Well, anyway ... getting back to this current project .... we're not quite sure where this is going but we were originally inspired by this afghan by Posie that we just fell in love with.....however, we are only on block #3, and it looks like it will take WAY too long to make enough blocks for a decent sized afghan .... sooooooooo.... we could use these finished blocks as potholders (no, that would probably not be a good idea) OR LOOK at this GREAT crocheted bag we found on Miss Queenly Things blog today ! Now that's a possibility .... not too many crocheted squares needed for that !

Be back soon!
Toodles,
Mary Anne (aka Mare)
