Wandering around town (Jim Thorpe, Pa )

Happy Labor Day weekend Blogland Neighborhood! Hope it's as gorgeous a weekend where you are as it is here in Jim Thorpe ! Yesterday , while chained to the desk and washing machine, the MBIAJ Paperwork Dept and the MBIAJ Laundry Dept kept hearing the "Choo CHOOOOO" and "chug chug chug" of the steam train that is in town for the weekend ..... well, that , along with our VERY short attention span anymore for paperwork and laundry had us combing our hair and heading out the door for some fresh air and sunshine to go wandering around .....

downtown Jim Thorpe (don't forget you can click on any of these pictures to make them bigger)

....started at the gazebo in the park which is right in front of ....

.....the train station where......

....the steam train is waiting for all the passengers to board.

....next we'll head up Race Street where some very cute shops are located, including this one Homespun

....and THIS one !!! Big Creek Vineyard .......OK, moving on ....ahem !! Helloooooo...... MOVING ON (or should I say staggering on?) .....onward to Broadway .....

...where we'll go by the library and....

....lots of cute shops (LOVE those sunflowers in front of this one!)

......don't you just love those old iron fences !!

....here's one of the many bed and breakfasts in town ...

....and another antique shop (also lots of pretty dried floral stuff)

I think the only thing missing in this town is a quilt shop !!! (trust me MBIAJ Headquarters has been toying with the idea for YEARS !!! .... however, the head of the Bill Paying Dept isn't quite so keen on the idea .... what a party pooper!)

Well, gang, hope you enjoyed yet another MBIAJ tour of historic Jim Thorpe, Pa ! It's time for us to get on back to headquarters and dive right back into that pile of paperwork and laundry (our little slice of heaven!) .....

....and LOOK! here comes my ride !!! It's Prince Charming !! (good thing I keep my spare tiara in my purse !)

.....HUH!! WAIT !!! Prince Charming ......WAIT FOR ME !!!! Oh RATS ! I just dropped my tiara in the storm drain ..... WAIT !!!!! #@#$%&*@ Now I'm gonna have to walk back to the castle ..... I'll bet Cinderella never had to walk .....or hitch hike ....(sigh)

Back to reality ! Be back soon!

Toodles,
Mary Anne (aka Mare)

So that's Jim Thorpe, I've heard about it but didn't picture it as quite so lovely. I must make it a weekend trip some day! Thanks for the pics!

What a beautiful town!!! It definitely needs a LQS tho; and I can't think of anyone better than you to run it, so keep working on that hubby :) Ohhhhh and I wanna ride in that carriage ... w/Prince Charming, of course :)

If anyone could make a success of a quilt shop it would be you (with Miss Kitty helping of course)

I have got to go there!! It looks so charming. Every time we drive down to Pa, we visit my family in Reading and never get to see much else anymore. I will put this on the top of my list.

Hi Mary Anne -- I am so sorry to barge in, however, I am on a mission to win -- rather to help someone else win. Did you see the Martha Stewart conest where one woman designs and decorate battered women's shelters? Please go peek at my latest blog post and follow the link at the bottom and vote for Terry. And if you have time can you do a blog post to help spread the word about Terry Grahl. Thanks loads, Jenny

oh, I so miss it!

There are horse and carriage rides now? Okay, that's totally cool.

I see Chatelaine's is still plugging along ... I don't recognize the antique shop - is it the little place at the end of Race Street?
