Where everybody knows your name ......

It's alot of fun to find and explore new quilt shops when you travel ..... but .... there's nothing quite like the comfort and friendliness of your LQS (local quilt shop). Some people hang out at bars to get away from it all ..... quilters, however, hang out at their LQS! Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name & they're always glad you came...... My hang out of choice, and very favorite quilt shop(which also includes an antique mall) is The Quiltery, located in Weissport, Pa (about 10 minutes from Jim Thorpe)......oh, and look! there's a picture of our bartender...er I mean quilt shop owner ....

.....my friend Kelly .... who, at 5:45 PM has just discovered that she has had her dress on BACKWARDS ALL DAY !!!! (see, she's showing us the label .... ummmmm, Kelly,..... the label goes in the back.....) ANYHOW, Kelly is lots of fun, and a talented quilter (even if she needs a little help getting dressed in the morning ..... actually, she's a step ahead of me .... I'm just thrilled if my socks match and I remembered to change out of my PJ's before leaving the house in the morning....).

.... Now, I'd like to introduce one of Kelly's staff members .... actually this gal is the real owner/boss of the place since she lives there ....

......this is Debbie the quilt shop kitty .....doing her job of sleeping on a quilt covered chair in the store window. Her other job is sitting on the check out counter and making sure you give her ears a scritchin' (I think I'll apply for that job when Debbie decides to retire.)

....Now let me show you around Kelly's (and Debbie's) shop ....

......everywhere you look .... quilt samples and fabric and patterns ....

.....and if you keep walking back past the fabrics, you'll see some of the antiques for sale by various vendors. Then make a right and you'll see Kelly quilting away on the longarm quilting machine.... or maybe a quilt class in session back in the classroom. But don't stop there ... go upstairs and see a gazillion more antiques!!!

Now, of course I saw way too many cute fabrics and antiques that I would have LOVED to take home with me ... but I did my best to narrow it down to my absolute favorites ...... First of all, some Moda Three Sisters "Simplicity" fabrics ..... ooooooooo, aaaaahhhhhhh......(slobber and drool....)

....and then from one of the antique vendors ....

.....these vintage tablecloths and napkins and .....

.......this CUTE little yellow table, yellow vase, and white Easter basket !!!....and like I said, there was lots more where all this fun stuff came from ..... this was just my narrowed down version.

......sooooo, if you're in the neighborhood, you should stop in and see Kelly and Debbie ...... (and help Kelly out if you notice she's got her dress on backwards again .....) AND ..... don't you think Kelly should start her own blog? She mentioned that she was thinking about it .... so let's just tell her to stop thinking and just do it!

......oh, and one more thing .... a BIG THANKS everybody for all of your nice comments on my One Year Blog - A - Versary post !!! If you haven't left a comment yet, there's still time .... the MBIAJ "Prize Winner Picker Outer Dept" won't be picking a winner until this Wednesday (after the kitchen mess is cleaned up and the homework nagging has begun....). See you then!

Toodles,
Mary Anne (aka Mare)

I can totally understand why you would hang out there! I would too if I lived in your neighborhood. When you have a minute, could you send me an email with the address. I will be in Reading in a few weeks, and if I'm lucky will get to sneak off to Adamstown. I would love to stop in that quilt shop if it is in the vacinity. Also, that pez post was hilarious! Susan

It's probably a good think that my LQS isn't 10 minutes away. Instead it's 40 minutes away. My quilt shop owner/friend most likely wishes it were closer to me since I always spend so much money there when I shop.

I love that Moda fabric too. Ahhhh, if only a gal could have all the fabric she wanted!

What a great shop and a wonderful tour you gave. That would definitely be where I would be hanging out if I lived there!

Of course you'd hang out in a quilt shop... where else... this is exactly where I want to sneak off to next week when I'm in Schuylkill Haven working like a dog.... wait, I've never once seen my dog do a lick of work. Not once... It's gonna be a long week -- I will need a quilt shop break.
