It was a real SCORCHER today ... and yesterday and the day before....

HooooooWEEE it's been a 96degree very humid SCORCHER out there !!!! (and will be again tomorrow according to the weather guy)......so, after work, and after working on .....

...THE GRAD-UATION QUILT !!!!!(cutting lots and lots and lots and lots of fabric strips....) I decided to pack it in for the day and head out to....

...the lake (Mauch Chunk Lake Park) which is just a few miles from where I live.

It was 7:00 PM ....

......and, as you can see, the beach was closed (well, the lifeguards go off duty and you aren't allowed to swim, but you can still be on the beach) ....anyhow, even though I got there too late to swim, I didn't really care because this is my favorite time of the day at the beach .... the crowds are gone, it's peaceful, and I DON'T HAVE TO PUT SUNSCREEN ON!!!!!(I HATE putting sunscreen on ..... it's all sticky and greasy and it burns your eyes and then the sand sticks to ya like the coating on fried chicken!!! ) Anyhow, it was still hot and I just wanted to cool off a teeny bit, so I waited until the park ranger was finished picking up trash on the beach and left the area, then ......

.... I tippy toed down to the water and stuck one foot in ......

......and it felt so good that I just couldn't resist .....

.......AHHHHHHHhhhhhh......that's better!!!

Hope you're staying cool!!! I'll be back soon!

Toodles,
Mary Anne (aka Mare)

It's been bad here, too. Eat your popsicles and get out your Elmo sprinklers...oh wait, your boys are a bit older.

I hear you, it's been awful here too. I think the heat would be ok had we got that gradual start to summer. Instead my kids wore long sleeves last week and then this, quite the adjustment. Hope you find a way to keep cool.

Hot here too. I am afraid we are in for a long hot summer. I loved summer as a kid, but now being a grownup kid.....not so much :-)!!!

okay, so if you lost your head and well, dove in...are the swim police gonna getcha? geez...there are only a couple beaches with guards on them on kauai and if you had to wait for one to go in the water you would be out of luck. i mean, a lake, geez, are there lake sharks or rabid ducks or terrifying rip currents or...why cant you swim in a lake which is like a huge pool if no guard? hmmmm

Ha, Susan took the words right out of my mouth. I can see having guards for unsupervised kiddies but your a real grown up kid.
And seriously, where in the h*$@ did this heat come from? It didn't get above 60 a week ago! I have had many cold showers the last few days though! Hope you can stay cool. Can't wait to see the quilt. Love Stacy

I always loved the beach at 7:00, too, when I lived in PA. I hate sunscreen, too. I love the fried chicken comparison!

Well, here's hoping the storms and tons of rain that hit here won't head your way. (Picture-- litter boxes, laundry baskets and tubs of fabric floating in your basement.)

LOVE the reference to sun block and fried chicken coating--too funny, Mary Anne! And your dip into the lake looked refreshing. Keep cool.

I know what is is... once the lifeguards are gone, tis not safe for Miss Kitty. A fish might gobble her in a hugely ironic mishap, no?

I'm so glad you got to cool off! It's been hot 'n' steamy here during the day and then raining at night... which would be okay if thunder didn't scare the doglet so much that nobody could sleep!

Can't wait to see the Graduation Quilt!
