Valentine Yo Yo's (& other stuff ......)

These things are SO addictive ..... (just like their chocolate cousins ....) ... I "HEART" these little heart-shaped yo yo's!!!!!!! When I was out Superbowl Sale shopping last weekend, I picked up the large and small size heart shaped yo yo makers by Clover. Well, all week I was itching to try them out .... and, also all week I kept passing by that cute stack of PINK fabric that I won from Sharon back in December. When I first got that great pile of fabric I kept thinking "Valentine project, Valentine project .... but what ....?" ..... Valentine Yo Yo's ..... that's what !!!!! ..... I know, I know .... they look a little lonely just sitting there, but one of these days I'll get around to putting them on something, or in something .....

....also while I was out Superbowl sale shopping last weekend, I bought fabric and a pattern to make this .....

..... "this" will one day be a graduation quilt for ...

this kid (aka my oldest son Matt aka Kid #1) who, if all goes as planned, SHOULD be graduating from high school this June (keep your fingers crossed!)

.... the lady at the quilt shop where I bought the fabric and pattern (which is the "Lasagne Quilt" in the book "Spring Cleaning" by Atkinson Designs) assured me that this is the quilt to make for a young guy heading off to college (she speaks from experience .... her kid is a freshman in college this year and she tells me so far it has held up to everything a bunch of guys in a dorm room can dish out .... ) ... now, my son will be living at home next year and commuting to a local Penn State campus , but his room , which at any one time can have up to 6 wrestler buddies in it, has all the similarities to a dorm room ..... or a locker room ..... or a barn.....and he will be heading off to main campus dragging his quilt with him the following year ...so....an indestructable quilt it must be. Anyhow, Matt, knowing my record for not finishing things on time (and asking which graduation this quilt is for ....) has been giving me the opportunity to not have to make him another quilt .... he keeps saying he already has a quilt and he doesn't want/need another one .... he likes the one he has .... the dinosaur quilt I made him when he was in kindergarten .... isn't that CUTE!?! He's willing to take his dinosaur quilt to college (since he knows his mother generally can't get her act together .....)

...Anyhow, back to my Superbowl sale shopping weekend .... I also bought this stuff ... some pretty fabric and wool ....

.....and these quilt books ...."Bits and Pieces" (18 Small Quilts from Fat Quarters and Scraps) by Karen Costello Soltys; "Simply Vintage" by Blackbird Designs; "Spring cleaning" by Atkinson Designs; and "Radiant New York Beauties" by Valorie Wells. (now don't think I'm unbelievably ambitious .... probably the most action these books will see is me paging through them ..... oh well, ... a girl can dream can't she?)

......OH! and LOOK at these cool Valentines !!!! they come with GLITTER TATTOOS !!!!! They never had glitter tattoos when I was in 5th grade ..... I would have LOVED glitter tattoos !!!! ...... well, I got 'em now !!!!!

.......and....I also found this cool stuff .....

(sorry for yet another blurry picture .... the photography dept here at MBIAJ are a bunch of amateurs!!!) ... anyhow, I found those cute heart shaped boxes at Joann's, and heart shaped marshmallows at Williams Sonoma (don't they look YUMMY!! and PINK!!); .....and last, but certainly not least are those Valentine socks !!!!! (aren't they the cat's pajamas?!?!) ---- after all, a girls' gotta have something to wear on Valentine's Day with her dusty, dry rotting negligee' left over from the Honeymoon (....did he really think that thing was gonna be worn after the Honeymoon?!?......)

....Anyhow..... I was hoping this big long post would take the attention off of the fact that I STILL didn't undecorate that dang Christmas tree.....

....AND, you still have time to enter the Valentine Give Away if you haven't yet (the drawing is tomorrow at noon EST).

Toodles,
Mary Anne (aka Mare)
