Hankie eggs AND the quest for Kitty's purrrrfect Easter bonnet design.......

Good afternoon Blogland Neighbor-hood. Well, here it is Good Friday and we still haven't come up with an acceptable Easter bonnet design for Miss Purrsnickety Kitty....(as you can see by the crumpled paper and rejected prototype)....she says so far none of the designs "do anything for her" .....they just don't capture the "real Kitty" ..... SO, (after counting to 10 for the 100th time) we suggested taking a little break from the hat thing and working on something else ...."Fine!" she says .... besides, she says she was late for her manicure and pedicure.....whatever....

OK, now that we got rid of her for awhile the "Sewing Dept " wants to show you a little project they came up with that actually involves NO SEWING !!!! This project came about as a direct result of the "Great Sewing Room Clutter/Crap Clean Up Project" as it has come to be known. It's amazing what was found in the dark recesses of cabinets and drawers in there (unfortunately no cash or winning lottery tickets ... oh well....)

Anyhow, look at some of the stuff we forgot we had ....

...lots of pretty hankies that were my mother's and grand-mother's (and a few I bought) , some wood and styrofoam eggs, rick rack in fun colors, and a few pipe cleaners.

....first place the (fake) egg in the center of a hankie....

...second have your assistant (Daisy in our case) sit in an Easter basket and test how well the fake eggs roll around ....

....next pull the hankie up around the (fake) egg and secure with a piece of the pipe cleaner (or a twist tie)...

....cover up the pipe cleaner or twist tie with the rick rack and tie a bow... Ta Da !! DONE !! Easy as pie...well, not really since we can't make a decent pie dough to save our lives .... but you get the picture ....

......anyhow, here are a bunch of "Hankie Eggs" sitting in a basket waiting for the Easter Bunny from Weight Watchers to give his seal of approval (no calorie eggs!! ...that should earn us a few brownie points!!!)

OK... time to get back to the drawing board and try and come up with an Easter bonnet design that suits you know who....

Be back soon!
Toodles,
Mary Anne (aka Mare)

What a CUTE idea! Thanks for sharing. I will have to make some of those out of fabric and plastic "fake" eggs to take to our Easter dinner.

And isn't miss Kitty just too too particular? And I love Daisy. She must be a great help to you.

How pretty they look! Clever idea! Tell Miss Kitty if she continues to be so fussy, you will put HER in a hankie and tie her up and put her in a basket OR you will let Daisy try to roll HER around a bit!

Daisy is adorable! Ms. Kitty, well we know she special! I'd just cover her with a pretty hankie with a ric rack bow tied very tightly. (Just kidding Kitty!!!) Seriously, I think one of the gorgeous hankies could be folded and tucked into an acceptable bonnet for the lady. Happy Easter!

I love this idea.....I bought a WHOLE bunch of vintage hankies from Moda one year. Never did make the quilt (G), but I can certainly twist tie them to make an Easter display. XXXX Annie

Oh, I love this idea!!! It makes a beautiful basket!! I will start collecting hankies post haste and be ready for next year.
When I was a little girl, my mom would wrap coins for lunch money or whatever in a hanky.
